Weird blotch on skin of breast - GP or not?!

A weird blotch has appeared on the skin on top of my left breast. It's about the size of a 10p and just looks like a small discoloured patch, maybe like the start of a patch of eczema. I very rarely get eczema and I've never had it there before though. Obviously Dr Google managed to convince me it's inflammatory breast cancer... Yes, I know it's highly unlikely but still, is it worth taking to the GP or should I give it a week or two to see if it clears up? Should add my mum has had breast cancer and the entire family are riddled with various other cancers so perhaps I'm a bit paranoid or perhaps I'm justified! Anyway, opinions welcome!

I would go not wait. With your mum's history, it needs to be checked out.

It may be nothing but at least it will put your mind at rest rather than worrying for a couple of weeks.

I agree with loveyou. See if you can get a GP appointment sooner rather than later as you won't stop worrying until you've had it checked, especially with your family history. Though I'd treat it as eczema in the meantime. Then if it clears up you can always cancel the appointment. Good luck Flowers

I had this! A few years ago now but I noticed a patch of discoloured skin in my breast. Went to gp who gave me a thorough examination. No lumps or anything and she prescribed some cream which cleared it up. Can’t remember what it was now.
Book an appointment and get checked out.

Wow, I was expecting people to say not to bother... In fact I was just logging on to cancel the appt. Maybe I'll go ahead then. Can't hurt, right?

You'll only keep worrying if you don't get it checked. When is your appointment?

kalefire · 18/12/2018 19:45

Without even reading the post and just reading the title it's a GO from me.

Stormwhale · 18/12/2018 19:48

Absolutely go. 100%. The gp will definitely not think you are wasting their time. I would phone for an urgent appointment, do not wait weeks for a regular one.

Good news - she thinks it's just a fungal infection. Yes, I have a fungal boob. Still better than the alternative. Daktacort ointment 2* a day. She said the same as you guys though - always go along if concerned. Thanks for the advice!

Great news. I hope the cream works quickly.

Read your first post and was about to say I had the same and it was a fungal infection then saw your update! Mine cleared very quickly with the cream
