Lump on neck - goitre? (with pic)

Been feeling like there was something in my throat/neck for about a week, then this morning I woke up with this. Bit scared. It bobs up and down when I swallow, feels hard and smooth and is uncomfortable but not painful.

Get it checked out. Hopefully nothing sinister, but having known someone who had thyroid cancer (treated very successfully); this was first symptom. Good luck x

Do try and put it to the back of your mind over the Christmas period.

They send everything to be checked to make sure there's nothing worrisome but benign cysts in the thyroid are very common.

My consultant was reluctant to remove mine until it starting pushing on my throat, despite me seeing him six months earlier due to difficulties swallowing. A barium swallow showed no obstruction at that time, but I could definitely feel it when eating bread or potatoes.

It wasn't until it grew further that they agreed to remove.
