Inspired by the bottom-surgery thread...

I need your advice, bum experts!

I have had what I think is a sebaceous cyst on the cheek of my bottom for ages now (like, a couple of years)! Am thinking of going to GP to ask to get it removed as it is not pretty (about the size of a little finger, not huge) BUT I am scared of having any procedure done in hospital and getting MRSA for my trouble, you know?

Advice? Anyone have one or am I a freak?

I just searched on sebaceous cyst removal and found a site about some people who got drunk and decided to remove a cyst themselves from their friend's head, with a razor. There were instructions and pictures.

WanderingTrolley · 24/06/2007 14:19

You know, sometimes I wonder whether the internet is entirely reputable.

FrannyandZooey · 24/06/2007 14:32

No

this looked very well planned out and nobody died, at all

from the photos, they looked like exactly the kind of drunk, mohicanned young men that I would want doing minor surgery on my head. They even remembered to sterilise the razor blade first.

Lovely!

Why did nobody tell me my services were required?

DD had one on her leg recently. I tried for weeks to squeeze it but it was going no where. Eventually, one night after she got out of a hot bath it produced a small head.I squeezed like crap and eventually got squirted in the face with about a gallon of cheesy yuk.

If I were you I'd leave it be until it's ready to pop as if you've read my recent thread you'll know I'm allergic to doctors seeing my bottom.

On the other hand if you were me I'd be sterilizing crochet hooks and getting my big mirror out again!

anotherembarrassingillness · 24/06/2007 17:14

it's too kind of deep under to be able to squeeze, I reckon!

I'm sensing a few spot squeezing fans here!

amateurarsedoctor · 24/06/2007 17:18

I love spot squeezing but that web site is too gross even for me.

The good thing about bum problems is at least you don't have to look the doctor in the eye when they deal with the problem.

I had to see a proctologist who found a polyp and removed it there and then - I thought I was only going for a talk .

Katymac · 24/06/2007 17:25

Sebaceous cysts are fairly easy to remove except when they are round the head/neck

My Dad has had lots but the ones by the ears/neck/jaw take about 3 times as long as the others - dur to nerves apparently

anotherembarrassingillness · 24/06/2007 18:04

ah, hence my earlobe one taking ages and the consultant not being keen to do t'other by ear.

should be easy to remove from arse?

go and ask the gp and let me know what they say!
