Mooncup - Cutting the Stem or Not

I bought a Mooncup a while ago, tried it a few times, looked forwarded to trying it properly during my next AF and promptly got pregnant Now my bump is 10 months old, my AF has returned and I have ordered a new post birth size mooncup, to arrive on Tuesday.

I just need reassurance that I can cut off all the stem, without making the mooncup useless. I don't think I need it...is that right. I seem to remember the tail rubbed last time and I hope removing this will help.
