I had it for 8 years after ds was born
The only thing that got rid was having those probiotics yoghurts everyday. Really did work. Good luck

crazylazydaisy · 23/06/2007 16:22

Drinking lots of tea and coffee causes it for me. Ouching in sympathy for you

PregnantGrrrl · 23/06/2007 16:24

I drink alot of tea. I am drinking tea right now!

I have a fridge full of probiotic yogurts though, which is good news!

The itching was so bad the other day i had to stop myself scratching in Sainsburys!

Ooh yeah, Sainsburys is no good for a scratch. Tesco on the other hand..........
I know it's a hard habit to break, but I have switched to having hot water if I have to have a hot drink and it does help. Maybe 1 coffee and 2 teas a day, but i try not to go over that or else the fire returns!!!

Best thing diet-wise is to cut out any and all forms of sugar and also yeast. So fruit juice, sugar, bread, marmite, anything with sugar added. Wholemeal carbs such as pasta is better than white. Garlic is an antifungal, you can either eat it or shove a clove up your fanjo (wrap it in muslin or it will sting). You can also take Grapefruit Seed extract or Caprylic acid which are also antifungals although am not sure if safe when pg so you might need to check that. Don't use soap or bubble bath or fabric conditioner.

no more tea and coffee from today and goodbye my dear marmite

and hopefully, goodbye thrush!

I suffered from thrush on and off for about two years, the canesten used to work well but then it would keep coming back...I haven't had it for about 4 years now... the trick...

Got my dp (at the time) now DH to use the canesten too and refrained from sex for a week or so. Seems he kept passing it back to me, because they can carry it without suffering from it.
