Worried about DH. Could anyone offer any advice/ideas/keep me sane!

For the last few weeks DH has been having unbearable night sweats, they are really intense and he is dripping in sweat. He has to change T-shirt's through the night and we have a spare set of bedding ready to put on in the middle of the night too.

Alongside this he has had diarrhoea constantly along with stomach pains and has lost almost 2 stone since the end of September.

He had blood tests done at the end of last week and GP said the tests had markers on for his spleen and pancreas. So he now has an ultrasound booked in for Tuesday morning.

I am not usually a worrier but am now (courtesy of Dr Google) thinking the worst. He is late 30s and aside from this is pretty healthy and active.

I know that no one can diagnose over the internet but just wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms and the resulting diagnosis was something not quite so scary as I'm imagining.

Didn't want to read and run but can't offer what you seem to want, reassurance. I have no idea what's wrong with him and I hope the docs get to the bottom of it soon and that he is soon fit and well again.

settmenu · 29/11/2018 08:08

@fessmess thank you. Yes - no idea what I'm after aside from someone with identical symptoms and the result being nothing worrying!

I do appreciate the reply, thank you.

I had gallstones and a stomach ulcer that both made me very sweaty and ill but I didn’t lose weight. When is the ultrasound? My experience is that they’re pretty good at picking up issues.

settmenu · 29/11/2018 08:18

@ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName he is booked in for Tuesday morning. I think I'm just more concerned than usual as it will be a week and a half from having bloods taken to having the US. An unusually quick turn around where we are.

How stressful for you both. I hope you get some answers next week.

No advice really but a handhold for you and your DH.

Symptoms like that would trigger urgent referral, doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be something worrying but needs to be excluded. Tbh I’d be prepared for a cancer diagnosis of some kind but hopefully it’ll be treatable. Flowers

@TakeAChanseyOnMe absolutely appreciate your honesty and the support. But must say I'm glad I was holding a glass of red wine when I read it. It's just about taken the edge off.

Hand hold from me. Nothing to offer in the way of experience, sorry.
Will be thinking of you on Tuesday and hoping its nothing Flowers

swingofthings · 01/12/2018 06:25

Another handhold here. This is a terrible period. Its hard to be strong for the person we love whilst being strong for ourselves because we are also filled with fear.

Hoping Tuesday brings reassured news and a start of treatment to get back to normality Flowers

panago · 01/12/2018 06:29

Another handhold here. No experience but will be praying for you and your DH.

Sending best wishes for reassuring news xx

crabb · 04/12/2018 09:05

Good luck for today, @settmenu. When will you have a follow up appointment after the ultrasound?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 04/12/2018 10:12

Best of luck today Thanks

settmenu · 04/12/2018 11:18

@AnchorDownDeepBreath @crabb @littlestrawby thank you so much - and thank you to everyone else who has posted over the last week or so.

All organs are fine, he has an inflamed adrenal gland but pancreas/spleen/liver/kidneys all healthy. Awaiting course of treatment (if any) in a few days when he speaks to GP.

Apart from having a good read through on MN I only ever post for mundane household tips and am genuinely so grateful for all the well wishes and that you've had me in your thoughts. Am cheery not only because of the great news for DH but the kindness of others on here. Hope you all have a great day, and thank you again. Appreciated more than you realise Thanks
