(Gross picture) Should I go to the doctors? Sinus/throat infection?

Last week me and my family all picked up a minor cold, but since Thursday mine has gone really bad

  1. Chest feels really tight and painful sometimes
  2. Constantly coughing up thick green mucus, plus out of my nose. Nearly makes me sick!
  3. Can barely speak, voice is very very hoarse
  4. Throat is sore, not insanely so though
  5. Also now having watery yellow discharge from my nose when I bend my head down?

All weekend it’s been getting much worse and I’m having difficulty staying asleep. I managed to take a picture of my throat and my partner says it looks swollen?

It’s always a pain getting to see a doctor where I am so I’m wondering if it looks like something viral or not!

Thanks :)

I'd say you're best popping to a pharmacy if you're not sure. It's hard to tell from the picture but it sounds as if you may well have an infection; the pharmacist should be able to advise whether it's viral and likely to sort itself out (and give you an idea of what to look for if it is worsening) or bacterial and likely to need antibiotics.

Thank you :) I did end up going to my GP as it's even worse today, and he said I have a severe Upper Respiratory Tract infection affecting my chest and throat, so I'm on antibiotics now
