What is it like to be on ADHD meds?

After a lot of research (and my mother being told by various professionals when I was younger) that I have ADHD.

I've done research into coping mechanisms/mindfulness but I'm more swaying towards meds. Once I stop procrastinating I'm hoping to get diagnosed formally and start meds as I can't see any other option right now.

I just wanted to see what meds people are on as adults and what pros/cons do you find?

Not quite what you asked:
DS will change into adult medication (Adult medikinet) soon. He has been on medication for 10 years now - unlike other medication it does not need to build up in the system. It comes in, starts working and when it is gone it is gone (be prepared for that moment it is difficult for some).
Only with medication was he able to learn to live with his brain and find strategies to compensate. All those mindfulness, coaching etc courses were a complete waste of time before, as he could not follow them. He is still very much the way he always was - without the suffering.

Oh, and sometimes I very much wish I could have had it. Now it is to late to start, as I've muddled through without and I am in my late fifties.
