Antibiotics for a 5 week old baby?

Took my 5 week old to the GP with a slightly red big toe. The health visitor said she thought it looked ok, but it check with GP and maybe they’ll prescribe some cream.

Anyway, took him in today and the doc took his temp, that was fine, not high. And the toe isn’t causing any discomfort etc.
He’s not unwell at all in himself.
GP seemed unsure as to what to do, so prescribed antibiotics for seven days as a ‘precaution’.
I don’t feel hugely comfortable with this, as it doesn’t seem necessary at this point. And he’s so little...antibiotics seems a huge jump.

What would you do?

I'm not sure any non medic would want to say don't give the antibiotics as your baby is so tiny. Sorry op I've no idea what you should do. I wonder what has caused the red toe. I hope your baby continues to be well.
