My 2 yr old rotten Chicken pox - spots in ALL the worst place.

He lets me put calamine lotion on, but he is terrible at taking medicine.

the only way i can get him to take Calpol is by hiding it Ribena.

Piriton, which might give us, and him a good night's sleep is minty, and i have no hope of hiding it.

I've tried syringes, spoons......

p.s - I'm a flaming nurse so should be used to awkward customers!!

Have you tried hiding it in Mint choc chip ice cream?

growingbagpuss · 20/06/2007 17:22

not a bad idea - but that would require getting some!!!!

certainly worth a try once Dh is home and I can nip out...

melt chocolate and freeze it with piriton in little icecube trays then tell him it's magic minty chocolate from the planet zaaarrg x

failing that trick him by giving him a spoonfu;l of something he likes then quickly swapping the next spoonful with the medicine, mean I know but gets the job done.

Thanks for the advice guys -as we were lacking in both ice cream, and time to melt/freeeze choc, i opted for the honest approach, and got him to kiss it, lick it etc.. and eventually dropped 1/2 a ml on his tongue at a time - and he took it!!

Not sure it will work twice!....
