Is this normal? 25mg once a day but supposed to be increasing it to 75mg over the next couple of weeks.

Have an upset tummy and diarrhoea, (no warning, must go now diarrhoea)!

I feel like I could cry all the time and in fact I just want to sit in the corner and cry forever.

Is this normal? Will the side effects ease? I’m supposed to be going out for a posh afternoon tea tomorrow with family and I’m dreading it 🙁

I've had both Gabapentin & Pregablin & I can understand how bad you feel. Neither suited me, I was on 300mg Gabapentin 3 times a day & frankly I was off my face with it. I started on 25mg of Pregablin & while I didn't feel as off my face on it, I felt like my brain was full of fog, I had no concentration, I felt like I was drunk. It might be that they don't suit you, if you are using them for pain relief, you may be better on something like dihydracodeine & Naproxen like me. Speak to whoever prescribed them & tell them how you feel, there are plenty of other drugs that you can try, it doesn't suit everyone.

Thank you for your reply nat6999

I’m taking them for pain relief. I’ve already tried codeine and naproxen but they didn’t work so pregabalin is the next step. Think I’ll give it the weekend and if no better will try and speak to my consultant

I had pregabalin for nerve pain, I managed to take them for about 10 days, I felt like I was drunk, slurred speech couldn’t string a sentence together and unbelievable stomach cramps which bent me double, to be honest the nerve pain was preferable to the side effects, I will never take anything like that again. Not everyone reacts to them a friend of mine takes them and thinks they’re fabulous.

It probably just doesn't suit you. It's an uncommon but recognised side effect.

I think your plan is spot on.

Thank you for your replies. I’m waiting for GP to call me back. Terrible diarrhoea and stomach pains over the weekend and it’s doing nothing for the pain.

Have to see what they recommend next
