Bleeding between periods

I had a c-section nearly 5 months ago and stoppped breastfeeding at 3 months. I went back on the pill immediately after bf and had one period as usual. Last week however, 6 days ago I started bleeding although I was mid cycle. I carried on taking pills as usual and finished the pack last night. However I am worried as I have never blead mid-cycle before and wondered if it could be anything horrible to do with having the c-section. The blood isn't as brown as my usual periods - more like fresh blood. I did mention it to my doctor as I happened to see him about somehting else the day I started bleeding and he said it was probably my hormones. I just wanted to hear if anyone else has had bleeding after c-section midcycle. Sorry if I'm being paranoid!

That's not paranoia you did the right thing checking with the gp! If it still happening next month go back and ask for a referral to a gynaecologist. Don't worry unduly though, break through bleeding is common when you are on the pill during the first nine months post partum. Your hormones are all up the swanny!

Thanks WMMC, I do worry about things so much sometimes. I will wait and see if its still going on in a month. Hopefully will have stopped by then though!

Incidentally you might want to do a pregnancy test, in case it was an implantation bleed!

If its any consolation, I have been having breakthrough bleed for thelast 2 months - have been to the gynae and they can't find anything. I had ds2 14 months ago.

It is quite common and is usually down to a hormonal imbalance. I am now trying the pill and will see if that sorts it out.

Try to get a referral anyway - just to set your mind at rest. I knwo how you feel as I am a terrible worrier about these kind of things too.

I'm sure it will all settle down
