my ds has had colds for approx 2 weeks out of every month for the past 6 months, and possibly longer (our lives were so chaotic before that, I honestly can't remember if it precedes that).

GP says kids have runs of illnesses like this (it does coincide with starting nursery) but so often?

another GP suggested allergies, e.g. hayfever (DH asthmatic), but he doesn't suffer when everyone else is suffering....

any thoughts appreciated!

at this age it is normal for them to have constant colds...

my 21 month old charge has regular colds...

also at this age it may be cold symptoms as symptoms of teething rather than an actual cold as teething can make them pretty poorly as well.... and if they keep getting 1 toother after another so it can continue for months!

Dont worry, loads of young toddlers are constantly dowing the calpol lol

dd2 had a CONSTANT cold type thing that went on for months from about 19 months, she is now 16 months and seems to actually have a good few weeks when she is completely snot free....until she bring home another cold from nursery but they do seem to go quicker nowadays.

I can't help but DS has been the same ever since starting nursery. If you find a miracle cure please let me know.

reassured that this isn't unusual then, TR. was wondering about cranial osteopathy as he has a funny shaped head too, ha, ha!

hopefully will pass then. he was breastfed too...feel cheated

Ds had fairly consistant cold/snot/runny eyes from about 8 months - we practically had our name on a chair in the doc's waiting room due to the run of eye infections (from snot), chest and ear infections etc...Realised one day about 6 months later - was summer by this time, that actually he was clear of everything!
Had the same performance the next winter - though not to quite same degree, and at 4 now he seems at a pretty normal level of cold frequency.
In actual fact he has had less colds from starting nursery than dd did, who didn't have so many when younger. I reckon she was bringing bugs home from school and infecting him!

TrinityRhino · 19/06/2007 21:34

dd2 was breastfed too lol

and having just said that she seems not to get a cold much more than normal she has just woken up crying cause she can't breath through her nose at all and is hvaing trouble sucking her thumb

she was ok when she went to bed
bless her, will be getting medised to help her tommorrow night

Dd has been a complete snot monster since March, practically non stop
