HI Everyone,

I wondered if you could give me any advice really. I cant have children and have suffered with rubbish crappy crampy periods for soo long. Get all the usual dead legs when having one and the rotten back ache etc, I wont go into to too much detail but you get the picture. I was on mefanamic and tranexamic acid for the last four years or so.

I went to my doc as I just dont know what else to do and suggested that as all my plumbing was absolutely no good to me, could I have it all whipped out? I didnt look into it properly granted, but she said she has no problem in referring me to Gynea but would I try Mirena first?

So booked in to have it done, I have been told I have a high pain threshold but I nearly shot thru the roof on more than one occassion, its now been in 4 weeks and I have spent 16 of them bleeding, I have got chronic lower back ache which completely takes your breath away when it gets you and miserable, fed up, boiling hot all the time, I SO want it to work, I really do, but I dont think it is going to?

I know they say for me it will take about 3/6 months to settle but to be honest I think I would rather have it as it was?

Help please, any advice is greatly received.

Thanks.

Mine settled straight away but I did have a problem with it kept slipping down lower in my cervix, so that the string was visible. Had to keep going back and having it reinserted. In the end, had it removed because it was more hassle than it was worth.
With regards to your situation, I don't have any experience of these symptoms and I have had 2 children so I am not the best person to advise you. TBH - I would research into sterilisation (if that is what you really want) and go back to doctors. There will obviously, be some drawbacks to full sterilisation (eg medication needed to provide your body with the missing hormones).
Not really been much help to you, but just bumping until someone with similar problems to yours appears.
Good luck in whatever you decide.
