Nauseous in the morning - not pregnant!

I'm 46yo and most definitely not pregnant!

Recently - few months - when I wake up in the morning I feel sick. Not to the point of being sick but it's that feeling when you need food to stop it. Eating will take it away, if I don't I can feel really yuck until I do.

This is relatively new - wondered if it was a symptom of peri menopause given I am hoovering at that age bracket? Or simply a blood sugar thing? Should I eat something before I go to bed to help, and if so what?

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what do you do? TIA.

Acid reflux? I used to feel and occasionally be sick with that

My mum had bad nausea when she went through menopause when she was about 47/48. She would have to have a snack next to her bed as soon as she woke up and also just before she went to sleep

I feel like that when my acid reflux isn't under control. I take ranitidine now to keep it under control.

I was thinking of acid reflux. Search for foods that aren't too acidic and avoid any bad ones later in the day. Alcohol won't help either. A light snack before bedtime might help as well

Thanks all....hadn't even considered acid reflux! I've always been lucky and never experienced that (or so I thought) and in both pregnancies I never had any sickness or heartburn or anything.

Don't drink a lot of alcohol so will take a look at my diet, not that it's changed in any way. Maybe it's an age/menopause thing. Will try a snack at might before bed, see if that helps!

It may well be a menopause type thing. I have a stomach acid issue that started at around age 46. I take medication now each day, but the feeling was a gnawing feeling that goes away when you eat something. You could try an over the counter stomach acid tablet and just see if that improves it.
Eating late at night also is a factor for me. Esp. a heavy dessert.
