My little sister is worried - what could this be please?

My little sis just phoned me. She has a 4cm lump come up under her right ear. It came up within 24hrs. It is tender to touch.
She has been to the doc who checked her throat and ears (all clear, no infection) and then checked her armpits and groin for other lumps (again, all fine)

They then said they have no idea and have taken bloods. She will get the results next week.

She is like me, a real worrier. She feels very tired. Could it be glandular fever? (despite absence of sore throat)
I don't think it is anything serious, but if it was a virus or infection she would feel poorly surely?

If anyone has any reassurance I can pass back her way I would be very grateful.

thanks
xx

if it came up so quickly it must be an infection. I am sure the doctors will get to the bottom of it.

i agree with pigletto. also, could be dental related.

Dental. Blocked saliva gland

Fab, did not think about dental. Will ring her. She is worried about the big C even though it sounds very unlikely. I knew I could rely on the MN wise women -

Tell her to try sucking something sweet and if the pain increases suddenly it is a blocked saliva gland.

thanks 3littlefrogs, have texted her and she has sent her flatmate out to get some sweets! she can't be feeling that bad if she is after boiled sweets
