Leucocytes and protein in urine - no UTI symptoms

Have been keeping an eye on my urine for the past few weeks after a nasty UTI that took a while to shift. This week I've had a horrid cold with high temperature and in the last few days my leucocytes and protein have shot up. I've no other UTI symptoms (painful weeing etc) - could this be a result of the virus I've had? The fever has gone but I'm still snotty and run down. Or is it more likely a pain-free UTI. Anyone had experience of this?

Disclaimer: I will obviously go to the GP at some point but it's a nightmare getting an appointment and could take me a few days. I can get ABs online if necessary but don't want to if it's not a UTI as they always give me thrush!

Absolutely could be related to your virus, leukocytes & protein can be present in urine as a result of a systemic inflammatory response (like a nasty cold). 99% of the time nobody even knows they are there.
Unless you are symptomatic for a urinary infection you do not require ABs for this (unless you are pregnant).
Cystitis (bladder inflammation) is not always bacterial.

Thanks - that's reassuring. I feel generally rotten (have had one thing after another these last few weeks) and could really do without another UTI in the mix.
