48 hours after DS vomited - are we in the clear?

I had diarrhoea on Saturday morning, and DS was sick twice early hours of Sunday morning. We are now on Thursday, and DH is complaining of stomach issues - he says it's acid reflux after dinner last night and that it kept him awake all night. Me being emetophobic, I'm convinced that he's actually now got the bug and that it's all going to start again in my house. I can't handle it, the worry and the clean up etc. I guess my two main questions are:

  1. Is it possible for him to have got it this long after me and Ds being ill?
  2. Can he now pass it back to us and make us ill again?

Thanks!

Hi OP, fellow emetophobe here, so I do understand...

I would say there's a good chance that your DH has the same bug BUT if he has there's virtually no chance of you and DS getting it again - if you've both actually had it.

It sounds as though you got off lightly, so hopefully your DH will too. Often bugs that make children properly sick will be much milder in most adults.

Germs that cause stomach bugs can live on surfaces, fabrics etc for several days, and in your bowels for even longer.

Just keep up good hygiene and hopefully this will all be over for you very soon...

Thank you @BlackInk, I appreciate the response. It's so horrible isn't it? It's the anxiety that gets me down and the obsession that follows and constant worrying. I came into work today in a brilliant frame of mind, ready to get stuff done, and since he's told me he feels unwell all that has gone out of the window, I can't think of anything other than worrying about him being sick, and I'm convincing myself I feel ill too.. Although I felt fine up until that point!
