MRSA - can anyone help me!

My poor mil has been pretty ill for a while, they have just said she has MRSA (as well as other things)

Now, my prob is that I was down there yesterday, rubbing all sorts of lotions and potions into her as she has had a terrible skin reaction. Normally this would not be a prob, however I take immunosuppressants. I am fairly healthy at the moment, I have a dodgy kidney and crohn#s disease but both ok atm, (am on long term antibiotics)

So should I be worried about this?

Check with ward sister or ask to speak with an infection control Dr or nurse.

I would get yourself checked out. you can get a swab done at your GP or probably easier at the hosp via a&e if you are visiting again. You already know that you will be more prone to picking up these things than others, so best to get checked asap and then deal with it if you have caught it. good luck

If you pop in to see gp or practice nurse and ask for a nasal, groin and throat swab im sure they will do it for you.MRSA is a community bourne virus which many of us carry anyway without risk.As you know it is only dangerous to the vunerable and if you are supressed in any way it may affect your condition so its def. worth getting checked out.It will take about 5 days to get results and treatable if you are well at the mo. I think you are safe-its more open wounds or post surgery or the elderly or anything that could delay the healing process thats affected so she could well have had it for months. Good hand washing ect will help and the nurses at the hosp will talk to you about it more im sure.
Good luck and hope your mil gets better soon.
