Anyone else get depressed after a major health scare?

After a year of tests for ovarian cancer I was finally given the all clear a couple of months ago. I was never diagnosed with cancer, but a cyst looked suspicious so they were monitoring me over the course of a year, blood tests, scans etc.
I’m obviously so relieved & so thankful that all turned out ok, so why am I still feeling anxious & depressed?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you.

I don't have any directly comparable experience but what you're describing doesnt sound surprising. Medical tests and interventions can be very stressful, not lease if the C word is involved.

I would be kind to yourself, cut yourself some slack and give yourself time to process everything. Up the self care and see how you feel in a month or so. Good luck Flowers

It is really normal. It is like you have been running on adrenalin fir tgeduration of the crisis/scare/episode of ill health. You crash after and have to a climatise to normality again.
We have a child with a life limiting chronic illness he can be well fir months then suddenly crash and be in hospital for weeks with no warning. After these episodes it takes me ages to recover I have found counselling helpful to process events and gain perspective.

Thank you both for replying. Flowers
I’ll give Macmillan a ring today to talk through my worries, they have been amazing throughout this whole experience.
Thank you again.
