My 28 month old daughter has recently taken to sitting on my knee watching tv or listening to stories for anything up to 1 hour at a time. I put this down to the fact that I was off work for the last 5 weeks and she missed me!! But now she has started to do this with my mother who cares for her whilst I work. This is making me question could there be something else wrong (medical/emotional). Apart from this she has an excellent appetite and when she does play is as lively and noisy as the next child. I would be grateful for an advice or stories of similar experience - before i turn into paranoid mother thanks!!

Why do you think anything is wrong? I don't understand.

Sounds normal to me. I remember sitting on my Mother's knee for ages reading stories together - my ds can only manage about 10 minutes before he's itching to do something more active. Enjoy it while it lasts!

She seems to be enjoying your company so enjoy it while it lasts. :)

i must admit i enjoy this time with her but it is other people who are saying is she ok, is she tired, could she be lacking iron etc that i am starting to get paranoid but reading the replies i am feeling better thanks.

Its not something my toddler does - but I wish she did!!!

They've all got different personalities haven't they. She sounds very normal - especially if at other times she is noisy and lively like you say.

Enjoy!

What you decribe is one of the best parts of childhood, as far as I'm concerned! I used to sit down after lunch with mine and have a cuddle while reading books or listening to music. It's lovely, esp on a winter's day when it's all cosy indoors.

My dd is 3.6 but has always sat for ages and cuddled.
She'll sit for hours reading together but when she needs to she lets all her energy out too.
It's a happy mix i think:)
(Plus i get loads of snuggles)
