I've broken out in severe hives all over my body and face.im taking piriton and the rash has gotten worse .. top it off I feel unwell.

I look like a monster . It's burning and itchy and stings . Imagen a nettle sting but all over .

I bought it the other day and threw the receipt away , but because I've had such a bad reaction I feel the need to inform the store and maybe even the shampoo company

You don't need the receipt, I was advised of this by a member of Kiehls staff.

There will be a phone number on the bottle to contact the manufacturer, at least there usually is. Go from there.

Take photos of the reaction. Have you sought medical advice?

Is this a product you have used before? If so, there could be a manufacturing problem, let the shampoo producer know.

If you haven’t used it before obviously go back to your old shampoo and compare ingredients to narrow down what might have caused the reaction.

Have you seen your GP about this?

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 16/10/2018 08:42

See your Gp, I needed steroids when I had a reaction to something.

Seeline · 16/10/2018 08:55

How do you know it's the shampoo that caused it?

Cookingcrumble · 16/10/2018 09:15

I know it was more than likely the shampoo because I spent the entire day in bed and the only thing I did different was wash my hair with the new shampoo while being in the bath.

I have taken pictures . I saw doctor at walk in , he said allergic reaction but he didn't see the bottom half of my body which is the worst part. He said piriton .

I have an appointment today to see gp today about something else but I will mention this to him as the rash has spread

Sounds awful. It's not shingles or measles or something, is it? Antihistamine would usually help an allergic reaction - it shouldn't get worse.

Cookingcrumble · 16/10/2018 11:43

I've seen the go and she has prescribed me strong antihistamines x

There are natural alternatives to shampoo, if you want a safer choice. I use things like egg, porridge oats, beer etc. Ask me, or do some research, don't just leap in!

You need to tell the shampoo producer, there could be a problem with the batch or they may have changed the formula.

I had a bad reaction to shampoo many years ago. I used to use Revlon Flex, which was fine, and then tried a different (new) line of theirs and reacted all over my scalp, shoulders and neck. My flatmate at the time was a nurse and told me I should contact Revlon, particularly as it was a new product. They asked me to post the shampoo back to them to do a quality control check and to their credit, said there was nothing wrong, but I had obviously had an allergic reaction, so they sent me £80 of products, including the shampoo I normally used and lots of hypoallergenic cosmetics.

I'm quite sensitive to perfumes in products and tend to use sulphate free shampoo, if I can. I hope you feel better soon.

Conseulabananahammock · 16/10/2018 14:18

Not gluten or dairy intolerant are you? It has a lot of acids in it. Maybe one of those has caused the reaction

I'm allergic to certain shampoos, cheap ones seem to be better!
