11 days of diarrhoea..,

I had to rush home from work on 1st Oct with an upset stomach (no vomiting or nausea). This carried on for the subsequent days, going a few times during the day and waking at nights with abdominal pain and passing lots of mucus (sorry for being so graphic!)

it got to the point last Saturday where I was so dehydrated I went to out of hours and they admitted me for a few days. Stool samples all returned negative - was worried re c diff! Since being home it’s lessened a lot to just going either at night, during the night or first thing in the morning so at most once or twice a day.

The irony was that I had recently been at the dr re constipation from my lansoprazole and have switched to ranitidine now (although this wasn’t the cause of the diarrhoea as I hadn’t got a chance to collect the medication before this all started) The drs have written gastroenteritis on my sick line. I’ve just never had it before without vomiting and not for such a long period of time..

Has anyone experienced anything similar??

Did you mention mucus to the gp?

Anyway, go back to the gp. 11 days is a long time for a bug they can't find. Might be IBS.

Yes the GP and hospital know about the mucus. It feels more like an infection but strange they didn’t find anything..

I used to have ibs and this is far worse.
Really foul smelling (sorry if tmi) although that also seems to have got a bit better.
