Breast pain-when to see the GP

How urgently should I see the GP for breast pain? I am post menopausal and have been to the breast clinic with lumps twice before. I am not quite sure if I can feel a lump this time but my breast is very uncomfortable and any pressure on it makes me wince. I can't get an appointment this week (I am on nights so would not be able to drive myself in even if there were an appointment) and even next week would be difficult in the terms of my shifts. The pain is constant, I have had it for several weeks (months) now and pain killers make no difference.
