It?s amazing how much you worry about those early milestones ? thinking that whether your child crawls at eight, nine, ten or later months is deeply significant, when in fact in 99% of cases it?s not. It?s only when you have a running, jumping three year old on your hands and you?re scared to death every time she scoots up to the top of the tallest climbing frame, that you realise that whether they were early or late crawlers matters not a jot. Still, it?s so hard not to be competitive about development (when we all know better really). As others have said though there is a real plus side to late crawling ? safety. Early crawlers have to be watched ALL the time as they can get into everything. Enjoy the extra few months of peace of mind if your child?s a late crawler ? who knows you may even get a chance to read a newspaper while your baby plays happily in one spot on the floor.
