Hello,

I came on today so decided to give new mooncup a whirl. Unfortunately for some reason I decided to chop the stem off a bit short which made getting it out a bit sketchy to say the least.

However I think it was up a bit far as I didn't have this trouble just now. Two main issues though:

  1. Do you wear it 24 hours a day the whole time you're on? Or would you give it a rest at some point? I never usually use tampons the entire time, I used to have the night off. Is it safe and stuff?

  2. When I take it out it comes out unfolded, ie full size and I'm not enjoying that! Makes my eyes water and reminds me of giving birth all over again.

Any tips for a newbie? Cheers!

You're supposed to pinch it before you take it out to release the suction. It's a bit messy though. You can use it all the time, but I personally don't like using it when there isn't much in it.

I've had 2 dcs, and I use the small size, and that's quite big enough for me thanks.

the first few times i removed it i thought ouch.... but now i have just got used to it and its fine (and i havent even given birth! )

I wear it 24 hours a day.... and even though not recommend i only empty it once per 24 hours as well

I wear all the time I'm on, the idea is that your vagina is still able to 'breathe' and be normal rather than tampons soaking up all the normal moisture as well as the actual period!

I've got used to the removal, agree with Pruners, rocking or twisting slightly helps, I find if I 'bear down' it brings the cup within reach to grab it half way up the cup and hence release the suction and also curve the top rim of the cup a bit.

HTH!

I have tried the mooncup and to be honest I liked it at first but the 3rd month of use I found it very uncomfortable. Felt a bit of a failure as I bought box of tampax! Did I need a different size or are you supposed to be able to feel it inside?
