Pain after 3 fillings at Dentist

On Tuesday morning I had 3 fillings at the dentist. The dentist explained that one of the fillings was quite big and deep so would take a bit longer to settle down. I completely understand that. As the local anaesthetic wore off I took a couple of paracetamol to cover the pain. I normally never need pain relief. But I've had to take the pain killers every 6 hours since, barely slept last night. I rang the dentists again today and they can not see me until tomorrow morning. I hate taking pain killers but I need them. It does not hurt to physically touch any of my teeth, it is more the gum and inner cheek hurting. Is there any more I can do today except keep up the pain killers.

I would keep up with the painkillers until you can speak to a dentist. If you are having problems at problems a pharmacist may he able to help.

How long did it take to get the filling done? Were they on the same side did you need a lot of injections?

Yes all on right side. Had 3 injections. The adrenaline was making my right leg twitch uncontrollably which freaked me a bit at the time. (My dad died from Parkinsons). I have an appointment for tomorrow morning so hopefully I will get some sort of relief or explanation then.

Could it be the injection site that is hurting if the teeth themselves don’t hurt? That big nerve block one at the bottom (which seems to go in at almost the ear and comes via a huge gun thing) always makes me feel sore for a few days afterwards. I think it must go into a muscle or something.

If you had had any other surgery would you be worried about being sore? It sounds if you were probabkly in the chair for a long time if you had thdree fillings including a deep one.

Update. I went back to dentist on Friday. The dentist was really nice and we ascertained that apart from one rough edge which she smoothed, the teeth themselves are not hurting. So we have agreed to give it another week., If the site has not settled by then, we will have to consider other options. As a side issue, I had ear pain the same side yesterday, and I had had a dull ache that side before I went to dentist on Tuesday. Now thinking I might have ear infection and that has confused the issue. But I've now managed over 36 hours without needing any pain relief, so progress is being made.
