Can I go to the gym with a sore throat and a dry cough?

I have a terrible sore throat, but this week was supposed to be my back-to-the-gym-after-exams week and I feel like I'm wasting money if I don't go.

So is it a good idea or not? I would have thought yes but DH says no...

If you feel ok then go, if you don't then don't, simple as that isn't it?

The general rule is, I believe, above the neck, yes, below the neck, no.

So that doesn't really help does it?

Go if you want to, tell yourself you'll do 15 mins, if you want to do more great, and if not, then don't beat yourself up.

I should have gone this morning but didn't.

I should go but I don't really want to go! I think I'm just looking for excuses -so I shall go and do a bit!

Apparently it puts more strain on your heart if you are ill... so no you should not go!

If you have a temp at all DON'T go - not good for your heart at all and can transmit virus thingy to it. If you're going though and are just OK - beware of cough getting worse as breathe all your lovely germs deeper into your lungs AND your heart rate will probably be higher as you're fighting a virus (I presume)

I didn't go in the end as by 5pm my cough was so bad I was barking like a dog.

Also I wouldn't be too impressed if I was at the gym and the person at the next treadmill was coughing and spluttering!
