Advice/Support - Gastroenteritis with vomiting and diarrhoea 8 days

Hi All,

first time I am posting and we just need some reassurance/comforting words about d & v (no fever) which is affecting our 1.5 year old son.
He has been diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis and had d & v for 8 consecutive days now, lost loads of weight and is not able to keep anything down.

Our son now refuses any electrolytes (probably due to the strong flavours) and vomits any small amounts of solid food he is able to eat (baby rice / baby pasta / brat diet) after a few minutes.

Took him to the hospital twice but they just send us back home and tell us to keep him hydrated.

This morning he has vomited twice and had a big diarrhoea episode.

We we already worried before but just getting a bit desperate now.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Wow I can't believe the hospital sent him home. I had my 1 year old in a&e after 4 days of vomiting and not keeping bottles down. She was very poorly and they put her on a drip immediately. She was very dehydrated and her electrolytes were all off. We were in for 3 days. I would say if he's still not keeping anything down and not drinking etc then he needs to be on a drip. If you are worried I'd bring him.back again. If he is keeping some fluids down he might be ok but I think that is a very long time for a bug.

Poor little chap that’s awful. I would definitely try to get him into hospital OP
