It is a skin condition which I have had for a year and is spreading. Just wondered if anyone else was suffering too.

When my DS was a toddler he had a very strange growth on the top of his foot. It was a ring-shaped set of little red spots which grew and spread out over several weeks (maybe months?). The Gp couldn't explain and we were sent to see a Dermatologist who diagnosed it as a Grannuloma Annulare. It disappeared by itself and never came back.

It is very strange. I have a huge ( 6 inches in diameter) patch on my inner thigh, and it has now appeared on my upper arms and trunk.
I've had a biopsy to confirm what it is and there is no treatment.
I am hoping it goes by next summer Shock

I had it on my foot as a child, it went on its own eventually, but I recall having it for a good few years before it disappeared completely.

I have a granuloma annular on my right foot (on the top, just below my toes). It has been there for 2 years. About a 2 inch wide circle. I have had a biopsy but nothing malignant showed up. It is still there however, growing slightly. On my "to do list" is to go back to the dermatologist to see what he says. He did comment before that having a biopsy on the lesion might cause it to disappear. Nope.
Nowhere else as far as I can tell.
Curious, isn't it...

I had it a couple of years all over my stomach and legs ,I looked like a blueberry !! .Had light therapy which is like a high intensity sunbed ,had to go at least twice a week for around 9 months. It thankfully has never returned

I’m convinced I have 2! One on my inner arm and one on my inner thigh, both circular. GP tried to say it was ringworm but I’ve used various creams & they’re still there! They never itch but just don’t look very nice. I’ve had them for 2 maybe even 3 years. Will they ever go? Does anyone have some advice on self treating them? Thnx.

The dermatologist I saw said there is no treatment.
Mine was initially diagnosed by 2 doctors as a fungal infection...3 months of cream and antibiotics. The third said correctly it was GA.
I went for a biopsy that week and it came back as GA.

Hello, I know this post is quite old but I think I have stumbled across the very thing I am suffering from! GA.
I had a circular rash on one thigh about 2 years ago which grew and spread to the other leg. They have grown and become less of a circle over time. Not itchy, creams and antibiotics do nothing, but I hate the marks and I am embarrassed when I wear a bikini or swim suit! Nothing I do seems to get rid of them. I wonder since this post is now quite old if you can give me some hope the marks will eventually go?

I know this is an old thread but I was just wondering how you got on, has the rash gone now? I also have GA, diagnosed in 2019 but I had had it for over a year prior to diagnosis. I had two patches on the back of my thigh, red, fairly flat and didn't cause any problems other than not looking very nice. They had stayed exactly the same u til the last few weeks and all of a sudden they have grown massively and merged into one, it looks very similar to the picture you posted.

If anyone has any ideas of how to get rid of it I would be really grateful to hear.

I know this is an old thread but heres my contribution. I was diagnosed with granuloma annulare 3 years ago. Had red patches appear on my foot and below my knee. GP had no idea what it was and I was referred to a dermatologist who suggested GA which was confirmed by a biopsy, I also get large patches appear on my buttocks which can make sitting a little uncomfortable, it seems like they occur on pressure points.

I've tended to doubt the GA diagnosis as the images I see online tend to have a rubbery edges around the redness whereas mine is just a red blodge, sometimes quite large, not itchy.

How are others getting on with their GA?

Arya732018 · 16/08/2025 19:20

glad to find this post. I first had on top of my foot 25 years ago and a dermatologist said was GA and would fade in approx 18 months. Took 20 years! Typically I then got one on inside of knee, after biopsy confirmed as gA although the circle of spots much larger and redder and lumpier than foot ever was. After about five years I now have them appearing in armpits, on chest, torso and tops of thighs, in last week they have definitely multiplied in number. I hope I don’t have to wait 25 years for them to fade as I’m nearly 60 now !!
ps no creams ever helped and told no treatment

Jinnypint · 17/08/2025 08:05

Arya732018 your symptoms sound very similar to mine. The only patches that sometimes bother me are those on my buttocks as they can make sitting uncomfortable. Hopefully we'll wake up one day and they'll all have disappeared
