Hi
My mum is out in Spain at the moment and texted earlier to say she had got 30 mosquito bites 😰she got them all at once. She is 70 and I'm a bit worried about her! Apart from being extremely itchy & annoying are these bites likely to cause her any more health problems?? I know most people usually get a few bites but to get 30 at once has left me feeling a bit worried. Should she take antibiotics just incase??
Sorry if stupid question but just want to put my mind and hers at ease
Thanks!!

unless they are very sore and hot I would no to antibiotics, but can she get some antihistamine tablets they will ease the itchyness but check they are ok to take if she is on any other medication

She would only need antibiotic if they were infected - www.malagaweb.com/blog/costa-del-sol/avoid-mosquito-summer/

Thank you so much for replies😀. I will tell her just to keep an eye on them that they don't get infected

Is she sure that they are mosquito bites. Could they be bed bugs? Or chicken pox? If they are mosquito bites, if she takes a claritin, they will stop itching at least so she won't scratch them which will reduce the chance of infection.

I got 92 at once once during a week in Samos! It was extremely unpleasant to say the least, I've never itched so much in my life, but it didn't harm my health at all. Antihistamines are essential to help stop scratching imo. Scratching leads to infection, which can then become harmful.

Vicks vaporub. It's a miracle cure for them. Please tell her to get it!

That would be normal for me somewhere hot. She can use antihistamine to ease the itch.

Are they in a cluster? My shingles started with what I thought was a cluster of insect bites. She would be the typical age for it.
