Otovent device for glue ear

Has anyone any knowledge or experience of these? DS has been using one for a couple of weeks now and I have a few questions going through my mind.

My DH used one a while back to balance out eustachian tube pressure from what I can remember. Strange balloon device to be put up one nostril...!! Such a long time ago I may not be any help but.....
