Unexplained (honestly!) Weight gain. Thyroid?

Hi everyone. I am super conscious of my weight having gone from almost 15 stone to 9 and a half and keeping my weight stable for around 5 years. I am honestly not eating any differently and weigh myself weekly. I have suddenly gained almost half a stone in the last 4 weeks. What do you think the reason could be? I have seen the gp who has advised a blood test to check my thyroid...any experiences?

Menopause? Wonky scales? Just one of those things?

Thanks for reading. Definitely not wonky scales as DP's weight is as it should be and the sane as at the gym. Oh God menopause...I hadn't thought of that, silly question but is that a thing without changing eating? I'm eating less if anything. Oh dear, reality is slowly dawning...I've just turned 45 Blush

It might be.Confused but who knows! It was with me. Suddenly I was putting weight on - round my tummy mostly, but no change in diet or exercise levels.

Oh silvercatowner I fear that could be it, DP says he can't see any weight gain but I'm sure I can feel it on tummy and hips. SUCH a pain when I've worked so hard for so long to stay slim. Going to have blood test for thyroid though just to be sure...Grrrrrrrrrr Hmm

Op make sure you get a copy or record of actual thyroid blood results. A fair few people are told everything is fine/normal when they're borderline, which may not be a problem if you're being monitored, but if you fall between the cracks it can take a while before you're tested again.

Good point, thank you I will be sure to do that.
