my ds is 23 months and over ths last month has had a problem with his poo, he crosses his legs and will hold on until it builds up so much he is in agony. He was prem and still has hospital visits to check on his progress, Dr gave us a liquid to soften poo but even tho soft wont go, not tried potty training yet. Its awful as he literally screams when passing a poo . Can anyone help please xx

Hi Joje
Our ds was also prem & always has suffered from constipation.
He takes lactulose to keep it soft & we have to make sure he has loads of fluids, ojuice/water/squash & we usually just about keep it moving but eh only ever goes every 2 or 3 days but is not normally in pain.
When it has got bad he's been prescribed other laxatives & supositries(sp). Our GP is always happy to give something a bit stronger rather than see himsuffer.

Have you tried Califig (a laxative rather than a stool-softener)? Used it with my three-year-old when he was constipated while potty training

Probably best to check it out with GP or NHS Direct first, but it is more powerful than lactulose or whatever.
