Can a smear test cause bleeding?

I'm having a bit of bleeding outside my period I'm not due on for a week. I had a few spots yesterday now today it's a lot heavier. Last week I had my cervical smear.
Has any body found they have bled a little while after this.

It has also occured to me that this might be an early pregnancy going wrong.If it is would a pregnancy test work or be too late anyway

I have had this

occasionally (sometimes after sex) ever since I have had a tiny bit of bleeding

but it wasn't heavy it was just spotting

I mentioned it to the nurse who wasn't bothered - later (when it continued after sex) I mentioned it to my doctor who (and he is very nice I trust him) said maybe I had some cervical erosion which would bleed if it got 'invaded'

but as I said it was just spotting, not heavy bleeding

same as cappuccino really, Nurse noticed cervical erosion after my smear and i bleed for about 4 days.

did you bleeding occur straight away or was it a week later

Last smear test I had doc said you might bleed a little after. I did...same day or following day... not a week later.

A preg test might indicate something even if you are having a v. early miscarriage
