corset after birth

I gave birth 8 weeks ago and two days ago(who's counting, lol) and at my postnatal check I was told I should wear a corset to keep my hanging belly in. What do you think? And where is best to buy that?

Welcome to the club of the hanging belly, it does go down! There was a thing in the newspaper about Gwenyth Paltrow who had a special corset to help her tummy go back into shape and support her muscles. I'll try and find it. You can get a special girdle that has three settings on it so you can make it smaller as your tummy gets smaller.

When my grandmother had her 5 babies it was customary to 'bind' the stomach to help hold it in to give it a chance to heal and the muscles to retract and also support the back. We don't really do it much now but its a really good idea.

Thanks. I found a belly band in the nct catalogue and I will try that as it's ok after birth too. I remember wearing some control tights in the past and couldn't bear them, so I will try the band (which is cheaper than pants) and if it doesn't work will consider the pants. I hope I can bear it. I never liked having my stomach squashed in.
