Hi all
My 17 week old baby had his 3rd set of jabs yesterday. He's had the recommended 3 doses of calpol to help combat the fever from the new vaccines. He last had calpol before bedtime at 7.30pm.

I'm in a dilemma as he's just had his night feed and has fallen back to sleep peacefully but I've checked his temp and it's 37.4 (armpit temp). Should I wake him to give calpol for that? Or should he be fine and maybe just a little warm as in his gro bag and snug? Do I need to set alarm to keep checking temperature?

I'm a worrier and really torn as to what to do. He hates the calpol and will scream and gag hence the dilemma as to whether to wake him as it'll upset him.

Please help if you can. Thanks!

I would tbh am sitting up with my 5 y o whose got a temp and I’ve woken her up to give calpol for piece of mind.

villainousbroodmare · 04/09/2018 03:24

I wouldn't dream of waking him.

Goostacean · 04/09/2018 03:29

I’m not a doctor, but I’d not wake him. Make sure he’s not wearing too many layers, but I’d let him sleep it off. My 7mo has jabs last week (we’re not in the U.K.) and he woke up because he was roasting so I gave him Calpol then and de-layered him. Don’t worry, he’ll be okay! :)

He's had 3 doses, he's happily asleep and 37.4 is not a fever.

Monty27 · 04/09/2018 03:37

39 is a fever I believe. Just make sure his temperature is regulated and he has water.

SD1978 · 04/09/2018 03:38

Nope. He has no fever, isn't distressed, I'd be leaving well alone.

Monty27 · 04/09/2018 03:42

Just keep him calm so he doesn't work himself up to a fever. But no 37 is not a fever.

mrs2468 · 04/09/2018 03:46

Not all babies get a fever after vaccination so as he doesn't have one I'd let him sleep

Thank you everyone for such quick replies, so helpful when you're feeling a bit lost in the night.

He's in a long sleeved vest with just a 1 tog sleeping bag so not too wrapped up I hope. I'll leave him to sleep now, he fed really nicely and a good amount so he's fine, I'm just a worrier Blush

I'm glad these are the last jabs for a while

Of course it's a worry. It's fine. Now you get some sleep Smile
