Hello,
My son is now 5 and half months old and my hair is coming out in handfuls. I can even see my shiny scalp now.

I didn't have this with my first.

How long does it last and does anyone have any magic cures?

Many thanks.

SH x

could it be that he is losing his baby hair and new hair wll grow after a while?

Hi Bishy,
Thank you for your message. It's actually my hair that is falling out.

My hair loss was really bad from 5-6 months, it was really getting me down. I had really long hair and ended up getting it cut just to make it look thicker.

Anyway, it seemed to slow down at about 6.5 months and now DS is 7.5mo and it's all but stopped.

Ask the doctor for a thyroid function test. Thyroid problems are very common after having a baby, and one of the things which can be caused by an underactive thyroid is hair loss.

Thank you for your messages. It's good to know I am not on my own. Wigwam, do thyroid problems cause weight gain too? I seem to have piled the weight on since have my son and cannot shift it.

Yep, underactive thyroid can cause weight gain.

You should get it checked out.
