Anyone had this or know about it

MIL has been really ill, they initially said pustular psoriasis but now say they think it is this

Was it a drug reaction?

CountessDracula · 04/06/2007 14:04

Yes they think so
She had hurt her back and taken Diclofenac, hadn't taken it for a while so they think it may have been a reaction to that

She is covered in the most horrific purpley red rash from head to toe

Someone I worked with had it as a result of a reaction to a prescribed drug. She was very ill indeed and , at one point, not expected to survive but she did.

Shes still not fully recovered but has been able to return to work part-time with help.

At the time I did a search on MN and there was a poster whose DD(?)had it.

There is a support group and website but, be warned, some of the pictures were pretty graphic from what I remember.

There's some stuff on it here but it makes for scary reading, esp if the lesions become infected. Your poor MIL.

CountessDracula · 04/06/2007 14:12

Am v worried about the chest infection bit as she has a terribly weak chest anyway and she is 75, I don't know if she would survive that on top of everything else

On the plus side she has had a fever for a week and it has now been stable for 24hours so am hoping she is on the road to recovery

Heres the old thread that I referred to.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 04/06/2007 14:14

I hope she recovers well, sounds like she's had enough health problems for some time to come.

BettySpaghetti · 04/06/2007 14:18

Fingers crossed for her recovery CD

CountessDracula · 04/06/2007 14:18

Oh she has
She has bronchiecstais, has beaten bowel cancer twice (once in her 30s, once about 3 years ago), she does suffer recurrently now from bad chest infections in the winter

I am really worried that she won't be strong enough to survive this. She does seem in amazing spirits but she is so weak, her temp was so high that her pulse went mad and her heart couldn't cope and they had to give her meds to regulate her heart beat.

ARGH

well dh just called
the new dermatologist thinks it may not be that but just a very severe drug reaction

She keeps having rigors which is putting her heartbeat racing again

Still sounds ugly, even without the name.
