Can stress cause a heavier period??

Sorry in advance as this is going to be TMI.

Basically my period started as expected on Tuesday so I am now on Day 3.
Last month at the doctors I was prescribed mefenamic acid for severe cramps resulting in dizziness and vomiting.
This month was the first period in which I have taken the medication as above, however I found it ineffective for cramping so I stopped taking it yesterday (Day 2)
This morning after waking I changed into an Always ultra purple expecting to not have to change until around lunchtime. However, less than 40 mins later I had filled the pad, with clots and everything. The clean up took 3 flushes of the toilet and it looked like a murder had taken place, I'm still heavier than normal currently.
Could this be caused by stress, stopping the mefenamic acid or something else??

Cheeky

How long have you had these sorts of problems?

The first thing I thought of when I read your post was endometriosis; this can cause both severe pain and/or cramps and heaviness of bleeding.

I would also keep a daily pain and symptom diary particularly if you do not already do this.

Did the GP not suggest anything other than taking these tablets?. Periods like you describe are something that you should not have to put up with.
