My situation is

  • currently awaiting first hospital appointment for a new problem that's emerged
  • have seen an HCP privately for a first opinion / to see if physio would be appropriate. HCP reckons this will require a prompt but relatively minor op if I'm to regain full function
  • I'm currently 6 weeks away from moving from England to Wales
  • my current, England, GP registration is only temporary due to a lack of proof of address and presumably I won't be able to get a GP in Wales until after I've moved and have proof of address - so 6-8 weeks from now.

How can I ensure a smooth pathway towards treatment? At my first (triage) appointment should I ask to be referred to a Welsh hospital and can this be done before I'm living in Wales? I'm particularly worried because last time I moved within England while awaiting treatment I was told I would retain my near-top place on the waiting list when I moved to the new address but this turned out to be a lie and I was put to the bottom.
