Missed a cancelled hospital appointment and been referred back?

My dd sees the audiologist at our local hospital twice a year and has done since she was little. This time she was planning on making her mind up that she's going to accept a hearing aid (she used to refuse to have one).

We got a letter in the post cancelling our appointment and telling us to wait for a new letter of a new appointment. This never came and the next thing we heard we had a letter telling us we'd missed an appointment and had been dropped from the entire hearing department and to get a referral back? We never had a new letter and our original one was cancelled and my dd has been with hearing support for over 10 years and has multiple diagnosed issues. I don't think it's fair they can do this especially since we have attended every appointment twice a year for 10 years and she needs this service? I don't know what to do.

Have you tried calling to explain the mix up? I’m sure it can be sorted.

Speaking as someone who works in NHS admin it isn't perfect. Ring the office and try to find out what's going on, a mistake has probably been made. In my experience you have to miss multiple appointments for this to happen.

Just ring them they will be fine

Could be a genuine human error. Try contacting the secretary and see if they can sort out another appointment

Yes, ring the sec. In my hospital, it used to be 3 missed appointments and then referred back to GP but recently it is just one missed appointment due to the pressure on clinics but I am sure the sec could put you back on the clinic if you ring and explain, that is what I do.
