Stabbing pain in lower leg, is this nerve pain?

I've had this pain on and off for years, fairly infrequently.

It's like a mild electric shock passing down my lower left leg on the outer side. Sometimes, it won't happen for months and then it will happen quite a lot. It doesn't really seem to be related to anything I do.

I have mentioned it to my GP once it twice and been told it's nothing to worry about as it's so infrequent, but it's happening daily now.

I'm planning on going back to the GP on Monday, but just wondered if anyone had had anything similar?

Sounds familiar exactly what I’ve had for 10 years or more and had to get steroid injections and various nerve study tests, as it was that sore I felt like my out thigh was burning up with static running down my leg and just wanted scratch and scratch, showers made it a strange feeling, winter made it was I could’nt even walk due to it, sounds like Meralgia paresthetica, it’s a sensory nerve, various things can cause it demand blood tests and a referral to specialist,

Sorry few spelling mistakes rather tired, winter made me worse, they say tight clothing like tights can interract with it

I have had stabbing pains in my feet for a couple of years and went to the GP who pricked my feet and took the pulse in my feet. She said everything seemed fine so it was probably a damaged nerve. It sounds like what you describe- like an intense shock which is over in a matter of seconds. A year later, they're getting more frequent and I have now started to have stabbing/tingling in my hands as well. I don't know wheteher or not i should go back to the GP. Please let us know how you get on with the GP on Monday.
