bad taste in my mouth from taking Iron tablets prescribed by the GP. I have been taking them for 3 weeks now - quite a high dose 210mg three times a day. I went to the GP for a sore throat that would not go away - he did blood tests and found i was severly anaemic - 8.4 hb. well since then I have now got a very sore throat, sore tongue and a vile taste in my mouth that just will not go away. I thought I might have oral thrush so went the the chemist and bought some gel, but it is not helping. Pleeease advise if you know this should be happening or not. Many thanks.

Hi OTR..I have also been prescribe Iron tablets for anemia and I find that if you take them with a large glass of water or Orange juice to help the iron absorption I do not get any after taste. If you take them without enough liquids the Iron will taste foul and is not healthy for the stomach either. Not sure if the sore throat or tongue is connected though could be if you are swallowing the tablets with enough fluids. HTH

Thanks JSo for your reply - I had not thought of that - the taste seems to be all the time though. I will remember to drink lots each time.
