My poor 5 year old boy has hayfever and is rubbing his eyes like a demon. We are using baby piriton but it's not long lasting enough.

He hates sitting with cooled flannels over his eyes so would probably balk at eyewashes/drops even if I could find something appropriate (so many products seem to be from 6 up).

What is everyone else using for their little one? It's horrible to see him in so much discomfort and I've had hayfever since I was little so I know what he's going through (when I was little I was a bit more willing to let my mum help me though!)

well dd is now 6 (7 this year) so I gave her Benadryl (for children) a few nights ago and it really made a difference but I think that is 6+ unfortunately.

have you taken him to the GP?

Thanks for your reply foxinsocks. No i haven't taken him to the doctors yet but that's a good idea. His eyelids are starting to get sore with the amount of rubbing his doing and he's also had a couple of nosebleeds recently because of so much sneezing (I used to get at least one a day when I was kid too)

I'll give the GP a call in the morning. Thanks.

yes, poor lad. It makes them so tired too. He might need some eye drops. It is horrid hayfever. I think it's the grass pollen that's irritating at the moment.
