Oedema and dent in leg

Since the hot weather set in I've had a touch of oedema in my feet, ankles and lower leg. A couple of days ago I noticed that one leg has a dent, abit to the side of the shin about half way down my lower leg.

Today, I was stupid and googled it. Heart failure. I hasten to add that I feel perfectly normal otherwise, so am pretty sure it's not that, but thought "better safe than sorry" so have rung my surgery who will ask the duty doctor to give me a ring,

Despite my assumption that nothing serious is happening, I'm wondering what else it could be. Just fatness due to sedentary life (I have ms, hypothyroidism, a non-urgent leaky heart valve) or leg artery blocked? I can't think of anything else, but am sure there's tons of alternatives.

Very possible that the hot weather we are having is the cause of the swelling you are noticing, the dent you discribe could just be from the way you slept
Hope the GP can reassure you when you talk to them

I found a dent around my ankle a few weeks back - wasn't the dent so much I noticed but that I had what I felt was a big bump on my bone - hence frantic panic about all sorts. After a while of moving around the dent/bump disappeared and it was merely the way I had been sitting/pressing ankle against something - I think it was warm that day too. I'm sure something like that is more likely to account for your dent than anything scary but hopefully the duty dr will reassure you.

Thank you both. The doc was great, like you (and me, really), he was sure there was little to worry about.

While explaining what caused it, he likened me to a balloon which has caused much hilarity in the household! (I am more like a balloon than he realises too Grin)
