My twins b/g went for their general ear checks. He didn't do so well and is booked for re-check. As they were born 2 mths prem, they had ear/eye checks done when 8/10 wks old, which were fine. So not too worried its serious. HV said it could be down to sticky/glue ear. Now feeling guilty. He's been suffering with his teething alot, but now feel it may be down to earache (although i know this can be a sympton of teething). He's shown no signs of fever and sleeps well, just tetchy during the day. Anyone had the same experience. Will be making GP appointment tomorrow, but its playing on my mind. Any advice would be gratefully received.

DS2 has just passed his hearing check after the third attempt!! And there's nothing wrong with his hearing - he was either tired, hungry or bored (or distracted) at other 'tests'. Don't worry too much about it - you'll probably know yourself from seeing him at home that he can hear. It may be teething, tiredness or just an 'off-day' - can the HV re-test again before you go to see your GP ... much easier than getting into the whole referral process if you don't need to. Good luck!

Thanks. You could be right .. have to wait another month for next re-check. Bloody typical. Will check out with my DR in case.

Hi! My 5 year old has been diagnosed with glue ear and we've been through the referal bit. On recommendation from Physio buddy tried Cranial Osteopathy. After first visit she developed raging sore ear for 24 hours but has been fine ever since. She's not as "nasaly" now and has been discharged from hospital. Sure your DB will be fine - but just to reassure - there are alternatives to the knife!
