Candida diet - does it work? need help and advice

I did some tests and a nutricianist has told me I have candida.

I have started the diet - to cut out yeast, all sugers ect . . I also have to cut out wheat and dairy as I am apparently intollerent to them

I am feeling rough. I am starting to doubt whether I can do this.

has anybody done the diet? Does it work? If it is going to make me feel better I dont mind doing it - but it Icant find much medical info on candida. I have a book.

Any help/advice/personal accounts appreciated.
thanks

There are other threads on this, but my best friend sdid it, also combined with cutting out wheat and dairy, and it is possible but very difficult and she lost weight (not a good thing as she was already very underweight).

The basic candida diet seems to help people if all else has failed. Have you had it diagnosed by a dr too, or just the nutritionist?

friend of mine has been doing it for about a year - she feels so much better now and has lost loads of weight too ! It's hard - but she swears it has been worth it.

Yes, I followd a strict anti candida diet recommended by an allergy person (not Dr) to try and solve stomach problems - was basically cut out anything flavoured, processed in any way, wheat or yeast, dairy, plus tomatoes, organges, grapes, (plus in my case anything red or organge!) - did get a lot of headaches (as also had to cut out coffee - oh heck! (Cofia (sp) homeopathic tablts helped with this one and also to take candida 200mg tablets (ainsworths in london) as Boots etc only sell one strength - was interesting, bit bland (had to get inventive with the recipie book and find a lot of time to make everything, everything from scratch - theres not all that much info on candida around and its often bracketted under things like intollerance or IBS but seems to work well if strictly followed - if you are followin it dont be tempted to half follow it as it will seem that nothing is working. hope this helps a bit - cant think of what else I can mention but if you have questions etc I'd be happy to answer them if I can - feel free to post!

yes, I have been through this and come out the other side.

I found that the diet was effective, and my specialist also gave me something for the allergies, not sure what it was.

I was also allergic to wheat and dairy products. A word of warning, your allergies can change, eg you may feel better for a bit, then start feeling worse again, and go back and discover that you are showing a reaction to another food.

at the worst point, I was reacting to dairy products, yeast, mould, wheat, tomatoes, fructose, caffeine and tap water.
Fifteen years later, I got only half reactions to wheat and tomatoes (which I eat as much as I like now), and the only intolerance that remains is to cows milk, which I still have to avoid.
