When did you last do a first aid certificate?

A lady at work collapsed today - I found her and called an ambulance, got first aider, found her friend etc. She's going to be OK, but the whole experience really scared me, and got me thinking that it's 14 years since I did a first aid course. It also made me realise that if I was out with family or friends and they started choking, having an asthma attack, fainted etc. I wouldn't have a clue what to do.

Just thought I'd start a thread as a reminder for everyone.

I did a first aid course in November. I had to deal with a broken arm recently, no amount of training can prepare you for dealing with incidents. I am a pretty useless first aider actually

OK - I know it's a boring thread..but heck did it scare me (and make me sit up and think)

sorry kid - was just adding a bump

I'm a rubbish first aider too - I get really flapped in a sort of 'don't panic Mr. Mainwaring' sort of way

i have to do one yearly. but really they should be taught in schools.

I did a St John's Ambulance one in February or March. I think refreshers are good because most of us know the little you can actually do in an emergency, it's more about having the confidence to DO something and not walk away.

I did a 2 day course in April as part of my job in a nursery. Really worthwhile.

Umm I did my basic first aid in September 05 and I do advance life support stuff next month I think. I am training to be a nurse tho so I guess a lot of my training is helpful...

I have watched someone have a cardiac arrest - i was not helpful really found it a bit scary but i didn't have to be helpful because there were lots of people around.

Not done first aid since I was a young teenager. I wanted to do the certificate through work, but not economically sound for me to do it as only PT.

I should look into doing it privately really.
