On both sides it would seem, thoroughly checked by GP this morning who thinks it may be left over milk from feeding , but I dont have mastitis , so it seems odd reason ?????

DH is getting more worried than I am and asking me to check out C symptoms online.

However GP has said I need to be checking it regularly and come back in 2 weeks if there is no change/dissipation.

There was quite a lot of tenderness when she pressed in to feel and also in the armpit area. She was checking for swollen glands also.

I don't quite know what to think really.

Have you ever had any type of lump removed or breast surgery before melsy? I only ask because I had a blockage in the exact area of a removed lump and that was tender. The lump (which was thank fully benign) didn't hurt or was even tender at all. Do keep checking

have you stopped bf melsy?

melsy · 24/05/2007 20:11

no operation before there Honor, was the blockage due to bf ?

I stopped about 12 weeks ago may be less. dropped feeds gradually and then only once a day and then every other and then stopped. I didnt have any problems, (or so I thought?).

not sure melsy, sorry! thought it was prob the milk.
i'm sure there will be another mn who can better advise than i !

hope you get it sorted!

The blockage was when my milk was drying up (my attempts at bf were woefully inept). It was just interesting that the lump appeared exactly where the other one had been removed.

hi i have found lumps/lumpiness in each breast in right breast after first pregnancy 2yrs ago and in my left breast 2 weeks ago after my second child was born in jan nurse has felt the left breast and i am being refered to breast clinic to make sure theres nothing to worry about.

There's a kind of mastitis that doesn't happen around breastfeeding and causes lumps and tenderness in the breast - I know this cos I had it about 18 years ago. It's often linked to hormones and gets better/worse depending on the stage of your menstraul cycle.
It's not dangerous, but it's a bit miserable. Sympathy your way.

ahh mummytojake , are you nervous , I am .

ahhh hello madamez, was it treated ,can it be treated ? Im not feeling great at all hormones are making me crazy right now. headaches for 2 weeks , turbulent emotions , tired , aching. Keep putting it down to stress and cycle , but didnt think it could be the lumps ?

Do you think I should get a 2nd opinion , dont want to appear like a hypochondriac , but I feel like im going crazy. Was going to start a thread on it , but dont know whats wrong , I feel so anxious and low.

Melsy:, erm, at the risk of upsetting you fiurther the treatment I got was a bit crap ( amix of beta-blockers, diuretics and antacids) but taking aspirin/ibuprofen eased the pain and in the end it went away. Mind you, the rubbish GP I had was later struck off for incompetence and yours sounds nicer, so hopefully you will get sorted quicker. Most breast lumps do turn out to be nothing dangerous and often dwindle away by themselves, but it's worth keeping an eye on them (so to speak).
Best of luck.

melsy · 25/05/2007 10:09

no its ok , Im not uspet , just not sure what all those medications are!!!!! well except antacids are for acid heartburn ????Thing is it doesnt hurt unless someone presses right in. So its not something Im aware of iykwim.
